VINTAGE CUSTOM HANDLE KIT WITH WOOD REAR GRIP AND MUSHROOM BUTT CAP
This is a Custom Handle Kit that includes a select hardwood rear grip that is 8 inches long that has a 9/16 inch hole that goes about 6 inches into the handle almost to the end where the mushroom butt cap presses on. The mushroom butt cap is pressed onto the end of the wood rear grip 2 pieces all together in this custom handle kit. The overall length of the handle is 8 1/2 inches long which includes the wood rear grip and the mushroom butt cap.
These handle components are the same as those used on many vintage fishing rods from the 1930s to the 1960s. They are designed to provide many years of dependable service. We recommend using two-part epoxy glue when putting together your custom made fishing rod. You can use a wood dowel to go inside of the wood rear grip and to the inside of the reel seat of your choice. You just use rings of masking tape around the wood dowel so it press fits into the end of the wood handle and press fits inside the end of the reel seat. Then you use two-part epoxy glue to have everything permanently attached together. Then your fishing rod blank is inserted into the end of the reel seat using a ferrule on the end of the blank or you can build up the end of the blank so it press fits into the inside of the reel seat and have it permanently attached again using two-part epoxy glue. Another option is to get a fishing rod blank that inserts into the wood rear grip and is attached using two-part epoxy glue and then you slide on your reel seat and your foregrip, wrap on your guides and you are good to go. This Custom Handle Kit can be used for a bait casting rod, a conventional rod, a spinning rod or a surf rod as the possible applications.
