Here we have a vintage collectible 1st Generation Newell “P” Series reel that has the aluminum handle, support posts, reel base, reel clamp and spool and the adjustable extra large bearing caps on both sideplates. This is the special limited edition P338-J that is specifically designed for jig fishing or throwing the iron. It has the extra frame post on the top of the reel that gives this reel added strength and less frame torque for fighting bigger fish without the worry of frame twisting along with improved castability and better free spool. This is also a great casting reel for throwing live bait like anchovies and sardines to hungry fish. This is also a terrific jigging reel for yo yoing or throwing iron jigs and for tossing wahoo bombs to fast moving yellowtail and wahoo, the fastest fish in the ocean. You can fish 25 to 40 pound test line on this reel.
