APPLICATIONS:

This is a great reel for jigging and casting. It has the high speed 5 to 1 gear ratio that is terrific for fishing iron jigs and wahoo bombs. Fish 30 or 40 pound test line on this reel and mount it on a 6 1/2 to 8 foot rod that is rated for 20 to 50 pound or 25 to 60 pound.

This Newell 344FJ jigging reel functions perfectly and is in very good used condition despite the cracks in the sideplates. Increasingly hard to find, this first generation “Blackie”, designed and built by West Coast fisherman Carl Newell, is considered to be very collectible by many. Try to find one and you’ll see why! It is complete and original with minimal corrosion and/or paint loss.
