The Billy Pate Trout fly reel, designed and precision-machined by legendary master machinist Ted Juracsik (Tibor Reels), is a historic masterpiece in the fly fishing world. It is the smallest and rarest model in the famed Billy Pate series, which was originally built to conquer grueling saltwater game fish. Spooled up with backing and ready to fish.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Line Weight Classification: Optimized for 5-weight to 6-weight (5/6 wt) fly lines.
- Frame Diameter: 3 ⅛ inches (approx. 2.91″ to 3.05″ spool diameter).
- Physical Weight: 6.3 to 6.5 ounces empty. It is built like a tank from solid aircraft-grade anodized bar-stock aluminum, giving it more heft than a standard trout reel.
- Line Capacity: Comfortably holds a WF6F line + 150 yards of 20 lb dacron backing.
- Drag System: A legendary, ultra-smooth cork disc drag system paired with an external rim-control palming edge for manual braking.
- Retrieve Direction: Non-convertible. Because of the precise engineering behind Ted Juracsik’s anti-reverse and direct-drive linkages, these reels were built explicitly at the factory as either a dedicated Right-Hand Wind (RHW) or Left-Hand Wind (LHW).
