1994 UPPER DECK HOBBY REGIONAL SERIES TWO BASEBALL CARDS

SEALED BOX OF 36 PACKS WITH 12 CARDS PER PACK

A sealed 1994 Upper Deck Series Two Hobby/Regional Baseball Box contains 36 packs with 12 cards per pack. The total base set contains 550 cards, with Series 2 accounting for 270 of those cards. This is a Central Region Box which features Kirby Puckett of the Minnesota Twins on the front of the box.

The biggest draw of a 1994 Upper Deck Series Two Central Region Hobby Box is that it holds exclusive access to the most desirable regional inserts of that year—specifically those featuring Michael Jordan and Frank Thomas. Because Upper Deck locked certain players to specific regions, the Central box became a major prize for collectors.

1. The Central Region Exclusives (The Big Chases)

Because this is a Series Two box, your main regional insert is the 1994 SP Preview set. These cards look almost identical to the premium premium 1994 SP brand, but they feature a regional tag.
    • Michael Jordan SP Preview (#CR2): This is the absolute holy grail of the regional pull. Jordan was a massive commodity when he transitioned to baseball with the Chicago White Sox. This card could only be pulled from Central Region boxes, forcing East and West coast collectors to trade for it.
    • Frank Thomas SP Preview: The “Big Hurt” was coming off an MVP caliber era for the White Sox, making his Central-exclusive insert highly valuable.

(Note: While the “Diamond Collection” inserts are also Central-exclusive to this packaging format, they were primarily seeded heavily in Series One packs.)
2. Major Set-Wide Insert Chases (All Regions)

These highly-coveted insert sets were distributed randomly across all boxes nationwide, but are incredibly tough pulls:
    • Mickey Mantle Baseball Heroes: Seeded roughly 1 per box (1:35 packs). It features gorgeous holographic and lithographic artwork honoring the Yankee legend.
    • Mantle / Ken Griffey Jr. Dual Autographs: If you pull a Next Generation Trade/Redemption card (seeded roughly 1:720 packs), it could be exchanged for an ultra-rare, on-card dual autograph card signed by both Mickey Mantle and Ken Griffey Jr.
    • Alex Rodriguez Trade Card: Series Two boxes also held incredibly rare trade redemption cards for an on-card autograph of the set’s top rookie, Alex Rodriguez.

3. Key Base & Rookie Cards (Series 2)

Even outside of the insert cards, the base checklist for Series Two contains a few iconic cards you will likely pull:
    • Alex Rodriguez Base Rookie (#298): His primary flagship rookie card is in Series Two and remains a staple of 90s collecting.
    • Billy Wagner Top Prospects (#533): A key rookie card for the dominant closer.
    • Derrek Lee (#541) & Trot Nixon (#538): Solid premier rookie prospects of the era.
